Wild Ones Native Plant Garden Tours
South Minneapolis | 10:00 am to 1:00 pm

August is a great month to tour native plant gardens, especially those designed to attract butterflies. You'll likely be joined by Monarch butterflies as you tour three private gardens and two public gardens in Minneapolis'  Kingfield and East Harriet neighborhoods. Tour guides will be at each site during the specified time.

Tour 1 | 10:00 am to 10:30 am

Clara Barton Open School
4237 Colfax Ave S

With the help of a significant Seeds for Education Grant from Wild Ones, students and parents designed and planted the garden in Spring of 2015 as a learning area and for pollinator support. This native garden is also dedicated as a memorial for a deceased teacher.

Back yard was established as a mini-prairie 10 years ago. Front yard has no grass and includes a brick walkway with a mix of native plants, edibles and an apple tree.

Tour 5 | 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm
Royal Grounds Coffee Shop Boulevard Garden
4161 Grand Ave S

This is an evolving native garden garden. Established a number of years ago with mainly non-native plants, it is now about 50% native.
